Still Here

I am still around, I have been busy with other things and have not found much time to post on here. I am working on a few shadow boxes again, and hope to start that gun-cabinet soon. Please keep checking out the blog, hopefully I will have more pictures soon.

Have a good one.

Long Time Gone...New Project Started

Hello again, I have been very busy with non-shop related things. I did manage to have some fun this weekend. My Dad and I did go to J&H sporting clays in Navarino and shot a few rounds of sporting clays. Since it has been almost a year since we have shot, we had limited success, but did have a great time.

Staying with the gun theme, I have started to plan a wall mounted gun cabinet to put in the shop, which also doubles as a hang out before hunting and things like that. I am building this as a prototype, as I hope to build one for my brother if he likes it. I promised him a gun cabinet a long while back, and I am going to stick to my promise, and hopefully deliver sooner than later.

Tonight was just planning, so I will start construction tomorrow. I hope to have some pictures tomorrow night.

I will post the details of the cabinet tomorrow with the pictures. I have very high hopes for this, I think it will really be very functional, practical, but at the same time will look pretty cool.

Check back soon!!

Thoughts and prayers needed.

Tuesday evening, our group of close friends and family lost one of our loved ones. One of my dearest friends lost his mother to a very unfortunate farm accident. Your thoughts and prayers are needed in this sensitive time.

To lighten up the mood, share some laughs and fond memories, we all got together this evening in the shop. We talked, we laughed, and we cried. The perfect cure is being among friends and family.

Here we have a heated cribbage battle between Steve and Matt. Ruth is holding Steve and Nicoles new baby boy, Charlie.

Kyle and Bob are chilling out on the steps, plotting their next trouble making excursion.

Here is the whole crew, relaxing and enjoying themselves.

Relaxing Weekend

It has been a slow, relaxing weekend around here....which is nice. We met our friends Matt and Kim for breakfast Saturday morning. Then later that evening we met our friends Steve and Nicole at the Green Lake County Fair to watch the demo derbies. Unfortunately we forgot the camera, there were some pretty funny sights.

We did manage to get a few things done in the shop though

Saturday after breakfast we headed to Hartford to Kettle Moraine Hardwoods to pick up some lumber and plywood. The plywood is laying on its side against the door, along with the 4/4 oak boards. The short pieces stacked on the table saw we pick up super cheap, and they work perfect for the shadow boxes. $325 Dollars later, and I have a pretty decent pile of lumber to work with.

Here is a table top I made for my cousin and his fiance . They have a coffee table that needed just a new top, and I was glad to help them out.

Here is a close up of one of the edges. It is made with plywood, then wrapped in a matching oak edge beading. This picture was taken just before I used the round-over bit to smooth of the sharp edges. They are staining this one themselves...project completed in one hour!

Check back again, as Monday I will be starting some more projects.
